End of Procrastination

Ouchie. It's not that I don't like updating my blog, but when I've procrastinated this long, it's hard to figure out just where to begin and difficult trying to recap 2 months in point form. Let's get this much straight, there's nothing 'pro' about 'procrastination'.

In the past 2 months, I've been keeping busy with plenty of roller skiing, road biking, glacier skiing, finishing up a Cultural Anthropology course through Athabasca as well as a get away to Vancouver Island and some camping in Southern B.C.

Pardon my lack of updates, but here are some photos to bring you up to speed.

What happened in June?

Bowness Centennial Road Race (June 12th)
10km in 43:19 New goal - break 43mins! Met Mayor Naheed Nenshi

Skier studded podium. Kershaw, Sandau and Killick, all ski racers, rounded out the Men's Podium. Godley, Coll and myself on the Women's side.

Kaslo, B.C Road Bike Camp (June 20-23)
150km in 6hrs
Kaslo - New Denver - Nelson

Google Maps estimates it would take 11hrs on a bike

Camp also included plenty of roller skiing and a preview of Whistler's softball match
Not the greatest map, sorry. Starting in Kaslo (A) and finishing in Nelson (C). Over half of the team rode the 216km circuit back to Kaslo to complete the Silverton "Triangle". Don't ask me where they learned about geometric shapes.

June also provided time for some golf. 9 holes on Father's Day to be exact. This picture is pretty accurate, my golf swing is THAT bad. But - the more shots you take, the more practice you have for a better swing, right??!

Beautiful evening paddle with my bro, Phil. Just outside of Fort Steele, BC

What about July?

Canada Day Run (July 1st of course!)
8km in 33:07, sub 33 next time!
Roller skiing in Canmore and Banff parades, Canadian style

Matt Wylie, Marlis Kromm and Rebecca Reid. Celebrating Canada Day the AWCA way.

Haig Glacier Camp (July 11-21)

Yo-yo Camp. If only this camp meant rapping alongside Jay-Z and Tupac. It's more of a 'yo yo' camp in the sense of spending 4 days on the glacier, coming down to Canmore for 3 days and heading back for another 4 days. I guess like the toy yo-yo goes up and down?

Terminology aside, great training, snow, food, staff and people all round.

Girls en route to the glacier. Photo stolen from Annika Hicks, she has a blog too! http://annikahicks.tumblr.com/

Tofino! (July 30 - Aug 7)

Off for a vacation after some hard training in July. The West Coast provides the sea level and laid back vibes for ultimate relaxation.

Joey taking me out for a kayak sesh. I got rocked!

I joined Joey and his family on Vancouver Island. Nice cruise through the lush forests.

It always cracks me up that I never have any photos of actual training. I guess it just works out that the everyday routine doesn't get documented. I swear, there has been lots of hours put in, but no cameras present to document it, apparently. I'll work on that at our next training camp, August 17-27 in beautiful Whistler, B.C.

Until next time!
